Donovan McNabb was born on November 25, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois. At 6 foot 2 inches and weighing close to 240 pounds it is easy to see why McNabb is one of the greatest quarterbacks that the game has ever seen. And when it comes down to it, McNabb has much more than a large frame. He is also one of the strongest players at his position, and he does not have any problems running out of the pocket if need be. And of course, McNabb has also been credited with being one of the smartest quarterbacks in the NFL.
After a successful career at Mount Carmel High School, McNabb decided to play college football at Syracuse University in New York. McNabb started every game of his career, and ended up being the best quarterback that the school has ever seen. In fact, many people feel that he was one of the best players to ever play college football. He finished his career with an overall record of 33-12, and the leader in numerous statistical categories. During his senior season McNabb passed for more than 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also scored eight touchdowns on the ground, and rushed for more than 400 yards. McNabb began to establish himself as a multi threat quarterback early in his career at Syracuse, and this still holds true to this day.
McNabb was selected with the second pick in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. After a slow first year when he only started six games, McNabb began to pick things up in 2000. During his first season as a full time starter he passed for 3,365 yards and 21 touchdowns. Since then he has been the Eagles full time quarterback, and it is safe to say that this will hold true for many more years to come.
