Michael Vick was born on June 26, 1980 in Newport News, Virginia. At 6 foot and 215 pounds he is not the biggest quarterback in the league. But with that being said, Vick brings a lot to the game. For this reason he has quickly made a name for himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He was one of the original multi threat players, and it appears that this is going to hold true for many more years to come. Not only can Vick dominate a game with his strong arm, but he is also one of the best rushing quarterbacks of all time as well.
In three years of high school football Vick passed for nearly 5,000 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also ran for more than 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns. Early on in his high school career college coaches began to take notice of what Vick had to offer.
After high school, Vick decided to attend Virginia Tech. This ended up being a great decision for him as he led the Hokies to national prominence on more than one occasion. In 2000, Vick led his team to an 11-0 regular season record and a berth in the BCS National Championship game. After only two seasons at Virginia Tech, Vick decided to declare himself eligible for the NFL Draft.
The Atlanta Falcons chose Vick with the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. This selection ended up being one of the best moves that the franchise has ever made. After minimal time as a rookie, Vick began to see the field more and more in 2002. During this season he passed for 2,936 yards and ran for 777 more. In 2006 he had what many believe was his best season yet. In addition to passing for 2,474 yards he also ran for over 1,000. This is quite a feat for a quarterback in the NFL.
