Reggie Wayne was born on November 17, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana. At 6 foot tall and 200 pounds, Wayne is far from being the biggest wide receiver in the league. But what he lacks in size is made up for with football smarts and a high level of determination. With all of that in mind, Wayne has made himself into one of the top wide receivers in the NFL.
Wayne was a two time all state player at John Ehret High School in Louisiana. As a senior he caught 50 passes for nearly 1,000 yards. He also had a successful high school career in track as well.
After high school, Wayne decided to take his game to the University of Miami. He ended up taking the college football world by storm early on, and started all four seasons for the Hurricanes. Wayne set a school record with 173 catches during his career.
The Indianapolis Colts selected Wayne with the 30th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. Although the Colts already had star receiver Marvin Harrison, Wayne still felt that he could compete at a high level for the Colts. And it is safe to say that he has done this quite successfully for several seasons.
Wayne had average statistics his first three seasons, but in 2004 he broke out. During this season he amassed 1,210 yards on 77 catches. He also pulled in 12 touchdowns.
The 2005 and 2006 seasons were more of the same for Wayne. He was an integral part in leading the Colts to the Super Bowl Title following the 2006 season.
With so much to offer the Colts it is safe to say that Reggie Wayne will be playing for them for many years to come. Although he is the second receiver for the team, he still manages to compile great stats year in and year out.
