2007 NFL Draft Player Reviews - WR Calvin Johnson
By Joe Arrigo

Possibly the best player in college football is Georgia Tech junior WR, Calvin Johnson. Johnson combines great size (6'4, 230 lbs), speed (4.35), and leaping ability (43' inch vertical) to go with an even stronger work ethic. He runs good routes and finds the soft spots in zones with ease. His speed is deceptive. He doesn't look like he is running fast, but before you can turn head, he is right by you and you will NOT catch him.

Johnson, who just turned 21 on September 25th and is majoring in Building Construction, also has outstanding hand/eye coordination to go with his rare combination of size, speed, strength, leaping ability, and body control. Johnson is a complete WR that also is a more then willing blocker willing to get into his opposition.

Calvin led Tech with 54 catches for 888 yards and six touchdowns in 2005 and in 2004 Johnson was Jackets' leading receiver with 48 catches for 837 yards and seven touchdowns, all Tech freshman records and was 1st team All-Freshmen ACC. But the most impressive thing about this young man is his attitude. He is a team guy that is willing to do the little things to not only improve himself, but also his team, that come from a great upbringing from his parents, Calvin and Arica Johnson.

When it come to Heisman consideration, Johnson's name SHOULD be mentioned with the rest of the contenders..and a seat in NY could be in his future. He should also be the Biletnikoff winner for 2006.

Calvin Johnson has the tools to be more then an all-pro WR in the NFL. He has the tools to be a difference maker that teams build their franchises around. His style of play reminds me of a cross between Moss, Owens, Holt and Sterling Sharpe, but without the drama a "super star" WR normally brings.
